Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur – A Poem

Glory Glory Tottenham hotspur
at White hart lane we have begun to prosper
We’ve been through tough times don’t get me wrong
But The SPURS march on, much like the song

Soon we’ll be leaving our wonderful ground
The feeling on match day, the sites and the sound.
Will they be lost, some say that they will
But as long as there’s Tottenham there’ll still be the thrill

The memories we have, made through the years
The good times and bad that have left us in tears
But memories are just that, they’re in our minds eye
And the moving of grounds doesn’t mean they must die.

Our new home is rising from the ground at long last,
We can all reminisce, and remember the past
A history so strong, Memory’s will not fade
but our future is bright, New ones will be made.

The double in the 60s, 70s/80s 6 Cups.
2 Cups in the  90s, Early naughtys the rut.
League cup in 08,  the 5-1 against the scum.
Success at the lane when the year ends in 1

Twenty TEN top 4 finish , we did ourselves proud,
The Champions league music, the roar of the crowd.
Nothing compares to the lane under lights
Hard to forget those Glory Glory nights

So many players have pulled on the shirt.
Some chose to move on and that really hurt
But we will always be grateful for all they have done.
There’s a place in our hearts, except maybe for one.

Gazza, Ardilles, Villa and Hoddle
Ginola, Gazza, Jenas and Waddle
Sherringham, Klingsman, Keane and Defoe
Crouchy, Dawson, and Pavlychenco.

Mackay, Van der vaart ,Lineker, Modric
Anderton, King, Davids and Carrick
The Legend Jimmy Greaves, our all time top scorer
All the players we’ve had, from Acimovic to Zokora

We’ve been through some managers, Too many to name,
Hoddle, Ardilles, & Venibles all ending the same
To the Success of Billy Nic, nobody came close .
Least of all, arriving by train, Christian Gross

Graham,  Santini, Shreeves, Berkenshaw
And then there’s the caretakers, I can’t name any more
We turned a corner with Jol, whose time here was great
Could have been better were it not for lasagne gate

Replaced cruelly by Ramos, Who gave us a cup.
But it wasn’t too long before his time was up.
2 points in 8 games is all we had got
A stat his replacement would remind us a lot

Success under Harry, The champion’s league.
Out of a job because of England intrigue.
AVBs time here was average, rose tinted by Bale.
And Tim’s time at the club was destined to fail.

Then along came Pochettino, Hes magic you know.
Confidence in the team started to grow.
Sured up the defense, we stopped leaking goals.
Instilled his vision, players all know their roles

A loss at the lane always brought pain
But now it’s a fortress which is insane
The defense are strong, the attack are too
Poch at the helm, Bringing youth through

Goals from the midfield, Heung-Min Son
Hugo LLoris . . . Our number one
Walker and Rose, running the wings
Toby’s tackles, reminiscent of Kings

Vertonghen and Dier, make up the 3.
Free kicks from Eriksen and we’ve got Alli
Mousa and Victor, The beasts in the center.
Finally that leaves our defender tormentor.

Hurricane Harry Kane . . He’s one of our OWN.
Came through the ranks; Mr Home grown.
Announced himself at Villa, Scored plenty more.
One season wonder? Going on 4

Winks and Carter Vickers soon to break through
Wimmer as cover, Onama too.
Davies and Trippier, our full backs for the cup.
And the elusive Lamela who’ll one day turn up.

The future looks bright, with the youth to come through
Edwards and Walker Peters to name but a few.
Sissoko and Jansen, Will they come good?
Transfer fees so high you hope that they would

Soon we will be playing at our shiny new home.
Hopefully not the “Nike soccer dome”
But whenever I go, whatever the name
To me it will always be called White Hart Lane

We must keep going forward, success is in sight
To dare is to do, The future is Bright
The end of an era but the start of one too
Tottenham Hotspur we can’t smile without you.
